What Is Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Prepreg?
Unidirectional (UD) carbon fiber prepreg is a thin resin-impregnated carbon fiber tape in which all filaments are aligned in a single 0° direction. It delivers maximum tensile strength and stiffness along the fibre axis, making it the material of choice for primary structural laminates, spar caps, tubes and rolled products. JiLin Tangu UD prepreg is produced from GX400 (T400-grade) and GX700 (T700-grade) carbon fibre, pre-impregnated with a precisely controlled epoxy resin system at 33–42% resin content, supplied on silicone-coated release paper in 1000 mm wide rolls.

Key Properties
High 0° performance. Tensile strength ≥2,180 MPa and tensile modulus ≥130 GPa (GX400 mid-high temperature system), or ≥2,300 MPa / ≥130 GPa on T700 high-toughness systems.
Controlled resin content. 33±2% typical, ±2% uniformity for consistent laminate quality.
Low volatile content. VOC ≤1.2%, hot-melt solvent-free resin for a clean working environment.
Good drape and tack. Optimised viscosity and tack for hand lay-up, automated tape laying and roll wrapping.
Long storage life. 365 days at −18°C; 20-day shop life at 25°C / ≤65% RH.
Processing & Cure
UD prepreg can be cured by autoclave, compression moulding, vacuum bag and tube rolling. Typical cure window is 120–180°C depending on resin system; tube products often use a two-step cure (e.g. 80°C/30 min + 125°C/90 min). Glass transition temperature after cure ranges from ≥110°C (medium-temperature systems) up to ≥155°C (medium-high temperature systems).

Storage & Handling
Store at −18°C or below in sealed packaging; cumulative shelf life 365 days.
Thaw sealed rolls to room temperature (≥8 h) before opening to avoid condensation.
Keep working area at 23±2°C and relative humidity ≤65%; cut prepreg laid flat, never folded.
Packaging & Delivery
Every unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg roll is packaged in moisture-barrier PE film with desiccant and shipped in sealed, humidity-indicating cartons, protecting the prepreg from moisture and mechanical damage during storage and transport.
