Carbon Fiber Plates and Sheets — Laminate and Sandwich Panels
Our carbon fiber plate and sheet range is produced two ways, and the choice between them decides the panel's density, surface and cost. Compression molding gives fast cycles and tight tolerances for flat or simply curved parts in volume. Autoclave curing gives the lowest void content and best mechanical performance for large or highly loaded panels. Both are backed by 100,000 m² of annual capacity.
Two Core Processes
Compression Molding
Cut prepreg is placed in a metal tool and cured at 120–150°C under 10–50 MPa. Cycle time is 5–30 minutes with dimensional tolerance of ±0.1 mm, which is why it is the default for volume production of flat panels and simple curves. Standard tool sizes are 1000 × 1000 mm and 1200 × 1000 mm.
Autoclave Curing
Lay-ups are consolidated at 150–180°C under 0.5–2 MPa with inert gas protection. The panel comes out void-free and very dense, with the best achievable mechanical properties and a smooth surface that needs no secondary finishing. Panels up to 7000 × 2500 mm can be built to order.
Panel Types and Dimensions
| Type | Dimensions (mm) | Thickness (mm) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon laminate | 500×500 – 2000×3500 | 0.2 – 80 | Structural plates, machined parts |
| Aramid honeycomb sandwich | 500×500 – 1000×2500 | 2 – 20 | Impact-resistant light panels |
| Aluminium honeycomb sandwich | 500×500 – 1000×2500 | 2 – 20 | High stiffness-to-weight panels |
| PMI foam sandwich | 500×500 – 1000×2500 | 2 – 20 | High-performance aerospace panels |
Why sandwich construction works: the core separates the carbon skins and raises bending stiffness dramatically at almost no weight penalty. It is the standard way to build large, light, flat panels — a sandwich panel can be several times stiffer than a solid laminate of the same weight.

Frequently Asked Questions
Molded or autoclave — which do I need?
Choose molding for flat or simply curved parts in volume where ±0.1 mm tolerance and a 5–30 minute cycle matter. Choose autoclave for large panels, the lowest void content, or the highest mechanical properties.
When is a sandwich panel worth it?
When bending stiffness drives the design and weight is critical. Separating the skins with a core raises stiffness far more efficiently than adding thickness to a solid laminate.
Can panels be CNC machined afterwards?
Yes. We machine mounting holes, pockets and profiles in-house, with 100,000 parts of annual capacity and special-shaped parts up to 5.5 m × 2.2 m × 2.2 m.
What core should I choose?
Aramid honeycomb for impact resistance, aluminium honeycomb for stiffness-to-weight, PMI foam for high-performance and aerospace applications where core crush and moisture behaviour matter.
